Senegal is a strong regional performer on measures of perceptions of economic growth. This result comes from long-term development processes, principally traditions of respect for the rule of law and competitive democratic government. It is expected robust real GDP growth in 2020-21, supported by infrastructure investment and rising industrial and agricultural output. In 2022-24 real GDP growth will rise even more strongly as modest oil production comes on stream.
